Our shrunken bison leather handlebar tape is a 100% USA grown and made product. The bison leather is raised and tanned in the US, and all of our cycling bar tape is made in our workshop in Austin, TX.
Our durable bison bar tape showcases the amazing hide characteristics this leather offers. Our shrunken bison is highly textured with deep natural wrinkles for a strong grip and a unique feel. Each set will have a unique pattern that typically has a gradient of finer grain tapering to larger grain at one end. The hides are hot processed in oil to create the shrunken effect, which enhances the texture and the extra oils in the hide make it the most durable leather we’ve ever found. Ideal for bikes that will need to withstand the heaviest elements on expedition and off-road riding. This tape is durable enough to withstand impacts and is repairable with conditioner. The shrunken bison also gives a great grip for urban and around town cyclists.
Our shrunken leather bar tape is made from 6ft/2m + long seamless strips with tapered edges. Due to the nature of the raw hides used to make this product, the bar tape can vary in length and not every item we have in stock may fit extra wide drops. If you are looking to use our tape on extra wide drop bars please call or email us before your order so we may verify you get an extra-long pair that will fit your bars.

United Arab EmiratesI have used leather as my preferred handlebar wrap for the last 30 years, with a few synthetic wraps sporadically. I used this shrunken bison wrap in black on my restored Tesch S-22 with Campy Record 11-speed. This build definitely called for a special leather wrap and with the Leh shrunken bison leather, I have found a wrap that matches the high level of awesomeness of my Tesch. I've had this wrap on and in use for about a year now in a severe duty environment (Bahrain, Saudi, and the UAE) and use Obenauf's to keep it in great condition, and it just gets better with age. I expect I won't have any difficulty in making this last 10+ years. I'm in the beginning stages of restoring a vintage late 80s Picchio Special with Campy 12-speed Record/11-speed Athena and yep, I am going with the shrunken bison wrap in black again.
